Butterfly Face Paint Ideas to Save

blue wings beside the eye

We’re starting off strong with these gorgeous blue wings. I love the pale blue sections inside the dark outlines and those tiny white marks around the edges.

The blue eye makeup carries the color across the lid. Keep that detail if you want your butterfly to feel like part of the whole makeup look.

pink wings and purple edges

How cute is this? The pink wings fade into purple around the edges, with white dots and little curls decorating both sides.

If you’re choosing a facepainting butterfly design for a full-face look, this one gives you plenty of pretty details. I’d keep the curled black antennae just like these.

sunset-colored wings

This pink and orange combination may just be one of my favorites here. The yellow near the eyes makes the wings look so bright.

Ask for pointed black edges and a scattering of white dots if you want to follow this design. There’s no need to add another color.

blue on one side pink on the other

Don’t want both sides to match? No problem!

This butterfly has blue wings on one side and pink wings on the other, with yellow details tying them together.

I love the yellow body down the center of the nose. It’s a cute change from the black outlines in the designs above.

teal curls and scattered sparkle

If you love swirls more than wings, this one is for you. It’s a decorative eye design rather than a literal butterfly, with a large blue curl on the cheek and a smaller curl above the brow.

The white accents and scattered teal sparkle are so pretty. You could borrow that color combination for a butterfly of your own.

pink wings with blue centers

I am obsessed with this pink and blue pairing. The butterfly sits beside one eye, with thick black outlines and a little spiral below the bottom wing.

Keep the color concentrated on one side if you don’t want a full-face design. This one has plenty going on all by itself.

little pink temple butterfly

Don’t want to go overboard with the paint? Try this little pink butterfly beside the eye.

The white dotted body and fine antennae look so sweet against the bright wings.

A few white dots around it are all I’d add.

orange wings and black curls

The orange fans are going to love this! Yellow near the nose blends into orange wings, with bold black curls tucked into the outer edges.

Those oversized antennae are my favorite part. Keep them if you want the same playful look.

two pink butterflies

How adorable are these two butterflies? One stretches above the eyebrow while the smaller one sits beside the cheek.

The purple shading looks gorgeous inside the hot pink wings.

There’s also a colorful sweep of sparkle beneath the eye. You could leave that out if you want to focus just on the butterflies.

rainbow wings and curled tips

If you are looking for a design with lots of color, then this one is for you. There’s blue across the lids, pink through the wings and little yellow sections near the outer tips.

I love the black spirals at the sides. The white star on the forehead is another pretty detail worth saving.

white spirals and blue strokes

Here’s another swirled alternative rather than a clearly outlined butterfly. Long white spirals reach above the brow and down the cheek, with blue strokes meeting beside the eye.

The little white petal-like shapes are so cute. Save this one if you prefer a looser, decorative design.

pink wings and a dotted body

This is another pretty pink butterfly, but the black details make it different from the ones above. I love the dotted body down the nose and the curved marks inside the lower wings.

Ask for the tall upper wings if you want to keep this same shape.

fine gold outlines

Don’t want filled-in wings or bold black borders? No problem there!

This look uses fine gold-colored lines around the eyes, with open sections that leave the skin showing through.

I am in love with the tiny curls beside the nose. Keep the rest of your design delicate if you want a similar look.

white curls and tiny stars

This one is all about white linework. A curled flourish sits at the outer corner of the eye, surrounded by dots and little four-point stars.

It’s not a distinct butterfly, but it’s a lovely alternative if you like the sweeping shapes without colorful wings.

purple shading and pink wings

Here’s the same pink butterfly pair from earlier in a wider crop. You can see the larger butterfly above the brow and its smaller companion beside the eye.

The purple strokes inside the pink wings are the detail I’d borrow. They give you another way to mix these two colors without adding extra patterns.

big blue wings and white antennae

I am obsessed with this blue butterfly. The tall wings spread across one side of the forehead, with pale centers, dark tips and little white dots.

The matching blue lips make this look even bolder. You could keep a natural lip color instead if you want the wings to be the main detail.

tiny pink and yellow butterfly

How sweet is this little cheek design? Two pink wings sit beside a yellow dotted body, with tiny yellow antennae above.

If you want a small butterfly without swirls or sparkle, this is a lovely one to save. I’d leave the two-color combination just as it is.

red heart-shaped wings

These red wings are too cute. The rounded lobes look like little hearts, with dark borders and white curved highlights.

I especially love the red sparkle inside them. Try keeping that sparkle within the wings if you want to follow this design.

green butterfly with a curling trail

This little green butterfly has such a pretty extra detail. A long black curling line stretches up toward the temple, with white stars scattered around it.

The green eye makeup matches the wings. You could pair the same cheek design with a bare lid if you’d rather keep it smaller.

teal wings and white flourishes

Last but definitely not least, we have these gorgeous teal wings beside the eye. I love the thin dark lines through the color and the little teal dots along the black border.

The long white flourishes above and below are worth keeping. They make this one feel a little different from the other blue designs.
