By the end of this list you’ll have twenty poses ready to save, screenshot and actually use on your next shoot.
No more standing there frozen while your friend holds the camera and waits, lol!
I scrolled through hundreds of pins to put this together and honestly most of them got tossed. Too stiff, too complicated or just impossible without a studio.
The ones that made the cut are doable with a phone, a friend and maybe five minutes of setup.
Some work for a solo selfie, some need a partner in crime, some are just for fun sketches. Either way there’s something here for every kind of shoot, right?
Under each idea you’ll find the little details that make it actually work. Plus what to keep in mind before you snap the photo.
IDEAS DE POSES
Sentada En Escalera Urbana
We’re starting off strong with the classic staircase sit. My camera roll is full of these because urban steps give you height differences with zero real effort.
Rest your elbows on your knees and look slightly off to the side, since that reads relaxed instead of posed. Works every single time. Even a plain concrete stoop does the trick.
- Any staircase works
- Looks good in five minutes
- Works with jeans or a dress
Apoyada Contra Pared Blanca
A plain white wall does more work than people think. I use one in my hallway constantly because it keeps the focus on the outfit, not some busy background.
Cross one ankle over the other and lean your shoulder in. Simple, clean and it photographs beautifully in almost any light.
- The no-distraction pose
- No location scouting needed
- Great for outfit photos
Caminando Entre Hojas Otoñales
How dreamy does walking through fall leaves look every single time? I do this every October and the crunch underfoot never gets old.
Toss a handful up as your friend snaps the shot. Half the leaves land on your shoulders and it still looks intentional, lol!
This one needs almost zero direction since the motion does all the work.
- Peak foliage only
- Best light in late afternoon
- Bring a scarf for extra swing
Mirando Por Encima Del Hombro
The over the shoulder glance is a classic for a reason. I default to it whenever I hate every other angle of my face that day.
It flatters basically every angle and gives off a candid, caught mid-thought vibe. Keep your chin slightly down and your eyes soft, more of a quick glance back.
Sentada Sobre Barandal De Puente
Sitting on a bridge railing gives you a built in frame with the skyline behind you.
Test the railing first for stability, obviously. Safety before the perfect shot, always!
Let your legs hang loose and look toward the water instead of the camera.
- Check the railing first
- Golden hour makes it glow
- Works over rivers or canals too
Reflejo En Espejo Vintage
Vintage mirrors add a soft, aged frame that regular mirror selfies just do not have. I hunt for them at thrift stores because most cost less than lunch.
Shoot the reflection instead of yourself directly so the mirror edges show in frame. That little border is basically a free upgrade! Who doesn’t love a happy accident like that?
- Thrift store find, basically free
- Ornate frames photograph best
- Clean the glass first, trust me
Sombrero Cubriendo Rostro Parcialmente
A wide brim hat pulled low over the eyes turns a regular photo into something a little mysterious. I rely on this one for insta poses ideas whenever my hair is a disaster, haha!
Tilt your head down slightly so only your mouth and jawline show. It leaves just enough to the imagination.
- Bad hair day approved
- Any wide brim hat does it
Saltando Frente A Grafiti
Jumping in front of graffiti is pure energy in one frame. I always mess up the timing on the first three tries, but the colors do most of the heavy lifting anyway.
Time the jump so your arms are up and your hair is mid air. Burst mode on your phone catches the exact right frame every time!
- Let the wall do the work
- Burst mode is non negotiable
- Bright murals photograph loudest
Bajo Luces De Neón
Neon signs turn an average night photo into something that looks straight off a movie set.
Stand close enough that the color washes over your skin. It reads moody instead of just dark, am I right?
- One sign does the whole job
- Pink and blue signs pop most
- Turn off your camera flash
Silueta Frente A Luna
All you really need for this one is a clear sky and some patience. My first attempt at night poses ideas like this took eleven tries before the moon actually cooperated!
Stand a good distance from the camera so your whole body fits inside the moon’s glow. This works best on nights with a full or nearly full moon. Anything less and it just looks like a smudge.
- Full moon nights only
- Distance matters more than lighting
- A tripod keeps it steady
Sosteniendo Luces De Bengala
Sparklers add instant magic to any nighttime photo.
Move the sparkler slowly in a circle for a light trail, because a slow shutter speed catches the streak perfectly. Worth the smell of burnt fingers every time, haha!
- Circle motion looks best
- Keep sparklers away from clothing
Comiendo Snacks En Sofá
Snacks on the couch is the most honest bereal poses ideas category there is. I have exactly one filter for this and it is called being too tired to care, haha!
Half eaten popcorn in frame somehow makes it funnier. This one requires zero planning whatsoever, how great is that?
Selfie Doble Con Amigos
Double selfies with friends are chaotic in the best way.
Squeeze into frame together and just react to whatever is happening in real time. That randomness is exactly the point. It always wins the vote anyway.
Abrazo Desde Atrás Playa
A hug from behind on the beach is one of the most requested couple poses ideas out there.
Let one person rest their chin on the other’s shoulder and look toward the water instead of the camera. It never fails to look candid, eye rolls and all. Same energy every single trip, honestly!
- Wind makes it better
- Sunset light is unbeatable
Frente Contra Frente Riendo
Forehead to forehead laughing might be the most genuine pose on this entire list. I have never once managed to fake that kind of laugh on command.
Whisper something ridiculous right before the shutter clicks. It works every single time, who doesn’t love that?
Caminando Tomados De Mano
Walking hand in hand feels simple but photographs beautifully from almost any angle. My best shots always came from a quiet street, never a crowded one.
Let the shot happen from behind or the side instead of head on, since it looks less staged that way. This is the pose everyone ends up screenshotting from someone else’s feed. Not in my book do you need a fancy location for this one!
Boceto De Manos Entrelazadas
Sketching interlocked hands is one of those drawing ideas poses that teaches you more about proportion than almost anything else. Hands are tricky, no shame in that!
Start with basic shapes before adding fingers. It saves you from starting over three times, which I’ve absolutely done, lol!
- Hands are notoriously hard
- Pencil first, ink later
- Reference photos help a ton
Silueta Bailando En Papel
A dancing silhouette on paper is pure movement without any of the detail work. My favorite ones are just the outline, the motion, the energy.
Fill the shape in solid black once the pose looks right, because it reads dramatic with almost no effort. Somehow the simplest ones always get the most likes, isn’t that wild?
- No shading required
Dibujo De Pose Dinámica
A dynamic pose drawing pushes you past the stiff standing figure most people default to. My sketchbook improved fast once I started bending a knee and twisting the spine!
This is the drawing poses ideas category that levels up a sketchbook the fastest. Even a rough gesture drawing looks more alive than a straight-on stance.
Start with the spine line first, then build the body around it.
- Spine line sets the whole pose
- Timed sketches build confidence
Girando Con Vestido Floreado
Last but definitely not least, we have the twirling floral dress shot. It’s one of the most searched poses ideas instagram trends every spring for good reason!
Spin slowly and let the fabric catch the air. The camera catches the twirl mid motion, right when the skirt flares out the most.
This is the closer photo of basically every outfit post I’ve seen this year, haha! How cute is this?
- Spring’s most searched spin
- Shoot in burst mode always
