Looking for holiday party invitations with a little personality? Think red snowflakes, green plaid or tiny gingerbread cookies.
There’s plenty to choose from here, whether you’re planning a Christmas dinner, a cookie exchange or a New Year’s celebration.
You can keep it simple or go all out with sparkle. Alongside the holiday invites, you’ll find a few birthday designs, a greeting card and an ornament-shaped menu worth borrowing ideas from.
Just adapt those details for your own party.
Festive invitation ideas for your next party
red and gold snowflakes
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous red holiday party invite. I love the gold-colored snowflakes along the top and bottom. The tall, narrow lettering leaves plenty of room for the smaller party details.
Try a white envelope with a gold-colored lining if you want to follow the whole look.
green plaid and bold lettering
How cute is this green plaid border? The big “OH WHAT FUN!” heading is my favorite part.
You don’t need lots of little illustrations when the pattern already does so much.
Keep your party details on a plain white panel like this one so they’re easy to find.
little holiday sweaters
Is that a penguin wearing a scarf on one of those sweaters? This ugly sweater party invitation is just too cute!
The oversized green “ugly” lettering and tiny string of lights make the theme clear right away.
If you’re planning the same kind of party, include a short dress-code note above the illustrated sweaters.
a wreath and burgundy bow
This plaid invitation may just be one of my favorites here. I love the little wreath with its long burgundy bow.
The cream panel has curved edges at the top and bottom, which makes it a little different from a plain rectangle.
Keep the bow and thin border in the same color to try this combination.
black with golden sparkle
If you are looking for something a little dressier, this one is for you. Gold-colored snowflakes and blurry light circles surround the black center.
That sweeping “party” lettering is so pretty on its own.
a champagne glass with a bow
I am obsessed with this New Year’s invitation. The illustrated champagne flute is gorgeous, plus that big pale bow is such a sweet extra touch.
The gold-colored script sits beside the glass rather than over it. Try that same arrangement if you want to leave room for a large illustration.
swirly lettering on tan
The lettering fans are going to love this! White script with a deep red shadow stretches across the tan background, with thin looping lines around it.
Make your own date a big part of the design too. Just replace the sample’s old year rather than carrying it into your invitation.
gingerbread and candy canes
How adorable are these little gingerbread figures? The smiling faces and pink cheeks are my favorite details on this cookie decorating invitation.
There’s a green tree cookie tucked into the corner too. If you want to follow this look, keep the background pale peach and let the candy canes add the bright red.
midnight blue snowflakes
If you love blue for Christmas, save this one. The large silver-colored snowflakes frame white lettering on a deep blue background.
I especially love the smaller, faint snowflakes scattered behind the words. You could keep those subtle details and simplify the text for your own party.
party photos and a gold envelope
Want to include photos instead of just holiday illustrations? This layout pairs a pale green invitation with white-bordered party snapshots and a gold-colored envelope.
The round seal is a lovely finishing touch. Use your own photos around the card if you’d like a similar collage for a digital invitation.
pine branches on white
Don’t want to go overboard with patterns? No problem!
Try this white invitation with green lettering and a pine branch illustration curving across the top and down one side.
I love the little “decked out in pine” line. It fits the drawing without needing any extra decoration.
deep green and tiny gold dots
This is another greenery idea, but it’s a little different from the one above. The branches form a tree-like shape against a very dark green background.
The scattered gold-colored dots are so pretty. Keep the white italic heading large if you want to try the same understated look.
a retro Christmas starburst
I love this cream lettering over the sharp green starburst. The red background and little scattered stars give it such a fun retro look.
This image is a Christmas greeting rather than a complete invitation. You could use it as inspiration for the front of your card, then put the party details on the back.
a pink disco heart
Who says festive invitations have to stop at New Year’s? This Valentine’s ball design has a giant pink disco heart on red, with little silver-colored stars all around it.
I am obsessed with that heart! Keep it above your heading like this if you’re planning a Valentine’s celebration.
cocoa and smiling marshmallows
How cute is this cocoa-themed birthday invitation? The red mug, striped candy cane and marshmallows in tiny party hats are adorable.
The large pink six is specific to the birthday design. For a holiday cocoa party, you could leave off the age and keep the “Sip, Sip Hooray!” wording across the mug.
cocktails and holiday spirits
I love the play on words here. “Let’s get into the Holiday Spirits” sits above an illustrated orange cocktail with a little starburst stirrer.
The green script and gold-colored stars are so cute together. This is a lovely direction for a cocktail invitation without the usual trees and snowflakes.
an ornament-shaped surprise
This is one of my favorite shapes on the list. A red ornament-shaped front swings aside to reveal a white circular menu underneath, with a pale ribbon tied at the top.
It isn’t an invitation as shown, but you could borrow the layered shape. Put a guest’s name on the front and your party details on the circle behind it.
pastel baking details
Looking for a softer color combination for your cookie exchange? This pale pink card is for you.
The illustration brings together pastel jars, whisks and a rolling pin above the heading.
I especially love the pink and mint together. Include a short note asking guests to bring cookies to share if that’s part of your plan.
plum and a sparkling disco ball
If you are looking for a little disco inspiration, then this one is for you. The pink highlights on the disco ball look gorgeous against the deep plum background.
This example is a birthday invitation. To adapt it for New Year’s, swap the birthday heading for your celebration name and keep the stars and rounded outline around the event details.
green plaid and a fine gold border
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty green plaid invitation. I love the gold-colored lettering!
The diagonal pattern runs behind the words, with a thin rectangular border around the whole design.
Keep the large “SOIRÉE” heading if you like that slightly dressier feel for your holiday gathering.
